Shane Byrne made the perfect start to his bid for a fourth British Superbike crown by winning both races at Brands Hatch on Easter Monday.

Sittingbourne rider Byrne climbed from 13th on the grid in the opening race to take the chequered flag ahead of Chris Walker and James Ellison.

Byrne led from the start in the second race and triumphed despite pressure from Josh Brookes in the closing laps.

Shakey's double gives him a 50-32 advantage over Ellison in the fledgling rider standings.

He said: "In terms of the races, everything has been perfect this weekend.

"The second race was pretty tough and the lap times weren't as fast but I had a strategy where I wanted to get away as I knew Josh would come through like I had done in the first race as we have been similar on lap times all weekend."
