Shane Byrne loses podium credit advantage over Josh Brookes after Cadwell Park disappointment

Shane Byrne trails title rival Josh Brookes on two fronts after a disappointing weekend at Cadwell Park.

Defending British Superbike champion Byrne has fallen 39 points behind Brookes after the Australian won both races on Sunday.

Brookes' double also saw him move ahead of the Sittingbourne rider in the podium credits table - 45-41 - with one meeting to go before the end-of-season Showdown.

Byrne was confident of bouncing back from a poor weekend at Thruxton but could only qualify 11th on his PBM Kawasaki.

He was off the pace in both races, finishing sixth and fourth.

Round nine of the championship is at Oulton Park on September 6.
