Kent Kings claimed a much-needed 48-41 National League victory over high-flying Coventry on Monday night.

A close match saw some of the best racing seen this campaign at Central Park, with home favourite James Shanes (9) and visiting No.1 Dan Greenwood (16) thrilling the crowd.

But the main man in the Kent ranks was Danny Ayres (12), who was unlucky to miss out on an elusive first league maximum - winning all four of his scheduled rides before being harshly excluded in the nominated riders heat.

Ben Morley (10), Aaron Baseby (6+1), Jamie Couzins (4+2), Danno Verge (5) and Ben Basford (2) completed Kent's tally.

Next up at Central Park is an international challenge against a team of young Danish riders in the Team Fritte Cup on Monday (6.30pm).

Kings rider Shanes added to his longtrack World Cup victory by winning the Sand Ace event in Guernsey on Saturday.
