Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis says players motivated to hit new heights in remaining Ryman League Division 1 South matches

Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis insists his team won’t be lacking in motivation for the season run-in.

His team are well clear of the relegation battle in Ryman League Division 1 South but 13 points adrift of the play-offs.

Davis said: “How many points can we get? That’s what we have to aim for. We have nothing to lose.

“We don’t want the season to dwindle and fizzle out. It’s been a fantastic one and we want to finish as high as we can in the 17 games we’ve got left.

“In the last three years we’ve picked up 59, 61 and 61 points. Can we surpass that?

“It’s a shame we didn’t have a game Saturday, we want the games coming thick and fast. It’s been a bit of a waiting game to get to this weekend and we can’t wait.”

Sittingbourne’s home game against Guernsey was postponed on Friday and even a trip to face a Maidstone United XI was ruled out because of the icy conditions.

The Guernsey game has been rearranged for Tuesday, January 31 while the Brickies travel to Chatham on Saturday.

Chats are struggling this season and are in a relegation scrap.

Davis admits they would miss the derby match if Chats went down but won’t be doing them any favours this weekend.

He said: “It’s one of our closest games and always a big one.

"The atmosphere at their ground last season was fantastic, with plenty of our fans making the trip. To lose any Kent club has an impact.”
