A drunk and rowdy tenant who
broke a court order within five minutes of it being served has been
jailed.
Elizabeth Mackrill was sentenced to
two weeks behind bars after she breached her second anti social
behaviour injunction which prohibited her from behaving in a loud,
drunk, rowdy, abusive or generally anti-social manner within or
around her home for two years.
The original injunctions were
sought against the 54-year-old of Cavell Way, Sittingbourne
(pictured), and her partner Philip Pearson, 51, of St Georges
Avenue, Sheerness, in April this year by AmicusHorizon housing
association after neighbours were subjected to months of rowdy and
anti-social behaviour by the pair.
Pearson received a 14-day custodial
sentence from Medway County Court on May 21 after breaching his own
injunction. However, following his release, the anti-social
behaviour continued at the address of Mackrill. As a result and in
agreement with AmicusHorizon, Mackrill’s social landlords Moat
Housing, requested to vary the order against the couple to include
Mackrill’s address.
Despite being warned that should
she breach the injunction again, her suspended sentence would be
enforced and could be increased she still broke the terms of the
second injunction within minutes of leaving the court on August
13.
Mackrill reappeared at Medway
County Court where she received the 14-day custodial sentence.
Gerri Scott, executive director of
Moat Housing and customer services, said, "We take a strong stance
on anti-social behaviour and will not tolerate people who continue
to make life miserable for our residents."
"We are thrilled that by working
together, we have been able to tackle this situation and obtain an
Injunction against the residents involved."
Carol Huckerby, anti-social
behaviour manager for AmicusHorizon, said: "By sharing intelligence
and working together, we aim to act swiftly on any report of anti
social behaviour. We want our residents to live in peaceful, quiet
and safe neighbourhoods."
