Metal thieves take drain covers

Gaping holes were left in several
roads around Iwade after metal thieves struck.
Two drain covers were taken from
Woodpecker Drive, three from Sheerstone and another close to Ridham
Dock, overnight between Thursday, January January 5, and
Friday, January 6.
Residents reported the incidents to
Kent Highways and Kent Police.
Heavy duty plastic covers have been
installed as a temporary measure.
Iwade parish councillor, James
Hunt, said: "Highways came out in an hour. It seemed like they
already knew about it.
"Safety wise I think the plastic
ones are OK. It’s more the case that it’s just more stuff
stolen."
