Jim Ward keen to turn round Sittingbourne's fortunes
New Sittingbourne manager Jim Ward believes he has found a
club with enough ambition to match his own.
Ward (pictured) had already turned down offers from two
other non-league Kent sides before taking up the challenge to
revive Bourne’s fortunes.
He has brought in brother Danny Ward as assistant manager in
what he hopes will be a successful pairing.
Ward said: "I gave a lot of thought to the decision because I
was at Maidstone and Ramsgate and was successful at both those
"I won the Kent League with Maidstone and the Kent League and
Ryman South with Ramsgate but for one reason or another, I’ve moved
"I’ve turned down two other clubs in Kent but Sittingbourne are
a club that have under-achieved and it’s up to myself and Dan to
turn them around, to put a smile on people’s faces and to get the
people in the Sittingbourne area supporting their club because that
Ward has already spoken with last season’s squad and is ready to
give everyone a chance.
He said: "Everyone wants to stay and we’ll find out (who is good
enough). It’s been a good response up to now." Next season’s Ryman
League constitution has been ratified, with Bourne taking their
place in Division 1 South.
