Jim Ward would like Sittingbourne to face Maidstone United in Ryman League play-offs

by Craig Tucker
Sittingbourne joint-manager Jim Ward is dreaming of a
play-off date against his former club Maidstone.
Brickies climbed to fourth place in Ryman League, Division 1
South after Ryan Golding’s hat-trick helped them to a 5-0 victory
at Walton & Hersham last weekend.
They host Whitstable on Saturday looking for a fourth straight
win, with Ward, who used to manage Maidstone, hopeful his side have
what it takes to go the distance in the play-off race.
Ward (pictured) said: "For the chairman (Andy Spice) I’d
like us to finish fifth and Maidstone second so we could go there
in the play-offs and get half the gate money.
"We’d take whatever the result was, it would just be nice to be
able to give the chairman a few bob from a 2,000 crowd.
"Every three points is massive at this stage of the season
because all of a sudden the games start to run out and if you end
up chasing up points, you can get in trouble."
Whitstable are in a relegation scrap but Ward has warned Bourne
against complacency.
He added: "Whitstable are fighting for their lives but if we
have aspirations in this league, it’s up to us to get the three
points."
