Sittingbourne FC joint-managers Matt Wyatt and Nick Davis putting themselves under pressure to get results as losing streak continues
The only pressure on joint-bosses Matt Wyatt and Nick Davis to get results at Sittingbourne is coming from themselves.
That was the verdict of Wyatt this week after Bourne extended their losing streak to five games in all competitions.
The latest defeat came at Worthing last weekend when, with Bourne leading 2-1 in the last 10 minutes, a controversial penalty turned the match on its head.
Sittingbourne bid to halt their poor run when they host Kent rivals Herne Bay in Ryman League Division 1 South this Saturday.
Wyatt said: “We don’t feel any pressure from the club. They’re happy with the work we’re doing, but me and Nick are putting pressure on ourselves because we want to do well.
“We’ve had five defeats in a row but two of them were against top Conference South teams in Ebbsfleet in the Kent Senior Cup and Staines in the FA Cup.
“The only game we played badly in was Whitstable in the FA Trophy. No excuses, we were absolutely terrible. If we get to the end of November and we’re still struggling then I’ll be panicking but not at the moment.”
Bourne have boosted their squad by signing winger Steve Okoh from VCD. He was set to feature in a practice match against Park Regis on Tuesday and could figure against Herne Bay.
