Women's handbag stolen from house in St Michael's, Tenterden, in distraction theft

A woman's handbag was stolen from the bedroom of her home in a distraction theft.

Police are warning Tenterden residents to be vigilant following the incident.

A couple living in the Henley View area of St Michael's, Tenterden, were approached by two men feigning interest in a chest of drawers in the garden.

But while one man talked to the couple, the second was believed to have slipped upstairs and taken the bag

The incident happened yesterday around 8pm.

The first man is described as white, of a slim build, with short hair and was wearing a black leather jacket.

The second man is described as white, of a proportionate build, with short hair and was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. Both were in their 20s and had Irish accents.

Police are urging people to be on their guard against distraction burglars and to never let people onto their property without first checking their credentials.
