Broadstairs: Air ambulance called to an accidental injury and man flown to hospital

A man has been flown to hospital after an air ambulance landed in Broadstairs this afternoon.

The man's leg was caught under a digger on a building site near Ranelagh Grove, Broadstairs.

An air ambulance spokesman said: “At about 12.35pm today, Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance was called to an accidental injury in Broadstairs.

"The patient, an adult male, was treated at scene by the air ambulance’s doctor and paramedic and flown to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford."

Firefighters were also requested to attend by land ambulance crews as fuel was leaking from a digger.

An ambulance spokesman said: "At 12.03 we responded with a car and ambulance to a man whose leg was caught under a digger on a building site near Ranelagh Grove, Broadstairs.

"The patient was also treated by the HEMs (air ambulance) team who flew him to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further treatment."
