Thanet Way closed by bike crash

A main road was shut for nearly seven hours following a serious crash involving a motorbike.

It happened on the A299 Thanet Way between Sevenscore roundabout and the Lord of the Manor roundabout at Cliffsend, Ramsgate, at around 2pm.

An air ambulance helicopter reportedly attended the scene.

Police earlier said: "We are currently attending a serious collision involving a motorbike on the A299 at Cliffsend.

"The road is closed between the Sevenscore roundabout and the Lord of the Manor roundabout while the emergency services deal with the incident.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."

KCC Highways said: "Reports that the road is blocked due to an RTC between the A256 / Lord of the Manor roundabout and the Cliffsend roundabout / Canterbury Road West, expect delays in the area."
