Armed police scrambled to St Lawrence High Street after 'shots fired from car' in street

Armed police have been scrambled after reports of shots being fired from a car in Ramsgate.

Five people were arrested when police stopped a car in St Lawrence High Street this afternoon.

Kent Police said it had received claims a pellet gun was being fired at another vehicle in Boundary Road at shortly after 3.45pm.

A spokesman said officers stopped a car and arrested five people. They also recovered two pellet guns.

He confirmed an armed response unit was deployed and said there were no injuries.

St Lawrence High Street was closed in both directions between Newington Road and Grange Road while police dealt with the incident.
