Ramsgate: Armed police stop man in town centre

This is the moment armed police restrained and arrested a man who was thought to be carrying a weapon in Ramsgate.

The officers were seen surrounding a man lying on the ground at the bottom of Abbott's Hill, close to King's Place and Camden Road.

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a disturbance at a private address in Abbots Hill, Ramsgate at 8.23am.

"Firearms officers attended the scene.

"A 30-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm. He remains in custody."

Police are not looking for anyone else connected to the incident and inquiries are ongoing.
