Police have arrested two people after drugs were seized near Canterbury Road, Birchington.

Two people have been arrested in Birchington after reports of drug dealing.

Officers investigating reports of drug use in the area made the arrests on Wednesday January 11.

Three people were stopped and searched near Canterbury Road and two of them were arrested after officers recovered small bags of cannabis, a knuckleduster and a kitchen knife.

Another search was carried out at an address in Margate where police found cannabis and a taser hidden in the seat of a scooter.

A 16-year-old boy from Margate was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and weapon offences.

He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old man from Westgate-on-sea received a caution for possession of a bladed article.

Rhiannan Pepper, Thanet Inspector, said: "If people have any concerns about drug use in their community, we would encourage them to report it as it assists us in building up an accurate picture of any issues and our officers can take appropriate action."
