Fire at play park in Dumpton near Ramsgate thought to have been started by arsonists

A blaze which spread through a children's play park is thought to have been started by arsonists.

Fire crews were called to the park in Dumpton, near Ramsgate, after the flames took hold at 7.15pm last night.

It is believed someone set fire to the rubber matting surrounding the park in Wickham Avenue, with the flames quickly spreading to the play equipment.

Firefighters spent 15 minutes putting out the blaze and alerted police.

They also reported the damage to Thanet District Council.
