Police have reported that missing boy Zachary Longley has tonight been found safe and well near his Margate home.

News of his discovery at about 9pm came some two hours after an urgent appeal was made for public sightings of the nine-year-old.

There had earlier been concerns for his welfare.

Zachary had last been seen at around 3.30pm heading in the direction of Osborne Terrace.

He had finished school but had walked off following an argument.

A Kent police spokesman said: "We would like to thank members of the public and the media who assisted with highlighting the appeal."
