Kent Fire and Rescue Service extinguishes car fire on roundabout in New Haine Road.

Firefighters were called to a car that burst into flames on a roundabout near Westwood Cross.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to the New Haine Road roundabout in front of Sainsbury's at 1.58pm.

A KFRS spokesman said: “One fire engine was called from the Margate station to attend to a burning car on the roundabout.

“The police opted to use traffic control and the road was not closed.”

Driver Paul Wells was going to the shops when he was delayed by the incident.

He said: “The traffic was stopped when the fire brigade turned up and we waited in a queue which backed up quickly.

“I only noticed the smoke as we approached.”
