Dreamland Trust receives £50,600 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund

The Dreamland Trust has scooped a boost from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The grant, worth £50,600, will provide funding to allow the charity to develop sustainable community based projects for the future.

Last year, more than 7,000 people visited the Dreamland Trust's two exhibitions and re-lived their memories of the amusement park.

The trust is keen to engage the community in its future plans and projects and will be announcing the first of these within the next few weeks.

Bernie Morgan, chairman of the Dreamland trust, said: "These are very exciting times for the Dreamland Trust.

"We are excited and very grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for their support.

"We have a number of projects planned for the coming year and this grant will enable us to build a robust platform with which to deliver these events."

The trust was established in 2009 following a successful campaign to save Dreamland from redevelopment.

It is committed to preserving and protecting the rich history of Dreamland and Margate through learning, school activities, volunteering and interpretation opportunities and community engagement.
