Margate man Paul Challicombe charged with drink driving after 10-year-old boy knocked over in Northdown Road

A motorist has been charged with drink driving after a 10-year-old boy was knocked over by a car.

Paul Challicombe, 56, of Surrey Road, Cliftonville, was charged after the collision in Northdown Road last night.

The boy was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after suffering injuries to his arms and legs.

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Kent Police was called at 6.17pm on June 5 to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

"Officers and Secamb attended and the pedestrian was treated before being taken to hospital.

"One man was arrested and has been released on bail to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on June 24."
