Neighbour Kylie Crane said: "Firefighters were evacuating people in flats nearby and when I came home they were about to break into my house because there was no answer from inside.

"Only my dog Dexter was in so I let him out.

"People from the flats nearby could all smell smoke and someone said it might have started because there was a computer left with the plug switched on in the kitchen.

"We don't think the person who lives here knows yet but they have a shock coming when they get home."

All occupants were accounted for.

Crews left the scene at 10.40am.
