Jazz artiste Amanda White and vintage bargains will be highlights of a charity fashion show in aid of Thanet’s Oasis Domestic Abuse Service on Friday, September 20.

The evening is a collaboration between Oasis, Thanet Extra’s Charity of the Year, and Margate’s Kings Emporium.

It will take place at Morgan’s vintage dance hall and coffee lounge in Margate at 7pm.

There will be rails of retro clothes, food and a raffle as well as a guess appearance by Ms White, winner of her hear in Stars In Their Eyes. She appeared there as legendary jazz singer Dinah Washington, singing tracks including What A Difference A Day Makes.

Kings Emporium in King Street is a social enterprise shop that opened in April 2013 and is committed to the regeneration of Margate and community involvement.

The business provides opportunities for individuals and charities to raise money through Fairshare.

Oasis has a range of services for victims of domestic abuse in Thanet. It provides a refuge for women and children at high risk of injury or death as well as support for adults and children in Kent who have experienced domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse is a crime that can affect any one from any background. The abuse occurs when a person causes, attempts to cause or threatens to cause emotional, sexual, or physical harm to an intimate partner or other family member. This is a pattern of controlling behaviour and is rarely a one-off event, and it can increase in severity and frequency over time. Oasis offer independent advice and support to men and women who are victims of domestic abuse and offer mentoring schemes for children and young adults dealing with trauma or who are at risk of having abusive relationships. Funds raised by events like this fashion show go to Oasis work with children and young people.

Tickets for the fashion show are £12 on sale in Margate at Kings Emporium, King Street, and Morgan’s, Marine Drive/High Street.
