A man who allegedly left a hammer embedded in a teenager's skull denied attempted murder when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

Joseph Williams, 20, also denied an alternative charge of causing Connor Huntley grievous bodily harm with intent.

Eighteen-year-old Connor was found slumped on a bed with the hammer deep in his skull at a flat in Athelstan Road, Margate, on May 28.

He was flown to Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex, for treatment.

He has been detained at the Trevor Gibbens Unit at Maidstone Hospital.
