Jaguar Land Rover Ltd take action against Thanet pair over website addresses

A man and woman from Thanet have been ordered to hand over a string of internet domain names relating to the luxury Jaguar car name.

Sally Banham, of Willbrough Road, Birchington, and Paul Banham of St Nicholas Court Farm, St Nicholas, were found guilty of abusive registration of 19 different website addresses.

The complaint included names such as jagxjinteriors.co.uk, jagheadlinings.co.uk, jaguarxk8.co.uk and rangeroverheadlingings.co.uk.

The websites were registered to Myrtle Ltd, a company registered to the same address as Mr Banham.

The company was also found guilty of abusive registration of the names.

Action was taken against the pair by Coventry-based Jaguar Land Rover Ltd after the car giant discovered the names had been registered.

Internet domain name watchdogs Nominet were called in to deal with the incident.

Domain name expert Richard Stephens, on behalf of Nominet, ordered that the names must be handed over.

Mr Stephens said the company had, to his reasonable satisfaction, shown rights in respect of a name or mark which is identical or similar to the domain names complained of.

He said he was also satisfied that the names complained of had been “abusive” registrations.
