Hansel Masopeh from Northfleet charged with drug offences and assault against police officers in Margate

A 22-year-old man charged with drugs offences and two counts of assault against police officers is due in court today.

Hansel Masopeh of Waterdales, Northfleet, was arrested and remanded in custody after local patrols, carrying out inquiries in the Millmead area of Margate, were assaulted at a nearby property.

The incident happened at around 9pm on Thursday.

Both officers were taken to a local hospital due to injuries sustained and a quantity of Class A drugs were seized.

Masopeh has since been charged with four alleged offences - possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, possessing diamorphine with intent to supply, and two counts of assaulting a police constable in the execution of their duties.

He is due to appear before Canterbury Magistrates Court today.
