A man found collapsed in Broadstairs High Street this morning is being questioned on suspicion of attacking a nurse.

Police were called to reports the 23-year-old, from Broadstairs, was slumped on the ground at 2am, shortly after he was alleged to have threatened another man with a knife.

The road was closed while officers investigated what had happened and the man was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate.

Medics established he did not need treatment and he was discharged, but then later arrested for the alleged assault on a nurse.

He is still in police custody.
