A man has been rushed to hospital following an assault in Margate High Street.

Police were called to the scene, next to the Masonic Centre, at 3.54am.

The area was sealed off for several hours but has since reopened.

Police say the victim, a man in his 20s, suffered "several injuries" and was taken to a local hospital.

The nature of his injuries has not been revealed.
