The words royal and harbour misspelled on red roadworks sign in Harbour Parade, Ramsgate.

Eye-poppingly bad spelling has appeared on a roadworks sign in Ramsgate.

Royal is spelled "Royle" while Harbour is spelled "Horbour".

The sign, which warns drivers of work in Harbour Parade, reads: "Except for access to Royle Horbour Brasserie."

A photograph of the sign appeared on Facebook on Saturday.

Sophie Tupman, from Canterbury, was among those who saw it. The 22-year-old said: "I couldn't believe it when I first saw it.

"There's bad spelling and then just really bad spelling. Me and my friend were in stitches."
