Ramsgate attempted rape suspect Christopher Adjei recaptured in Thanet after fleeing Canterbury Crown Court

An attempted rape suspect who fled in the middle of his court case has been recaptured by police.

Christopher Adjei, of Riversdale Road, Ramsgate, was on the run for almost five weeks after he disappeared from Canterbury Crown Court at 3pm on Monday,August 18.

He was charged with attempted rape on July 31 in relation to an incident in Canterbury in the early hours of June 14.

Adjei, 29, was arrested in the Thanet at about 1am today.

He has appeared at Canterbury Crown Court to face a charge of attempted rape and has been remanded in custody.

He will appear before Canterbury Crown Court at a later date.
