Birchington: Bogus caller warning after 'suspicious incident' in Coleman's Stairs Road

Two men reportedly looking through the window of a house told the homeowner who challenged them that they were collecting money for the armed forces - but were unable to produce any ID.

Police are warning to Thanet residents to be on their guard for any bogus callers following the 'suspicious incident' in Coleman's Stairs Road, Birchington, on Thursday, December 14 just after midday.

Both were described as white, medium build and around 6ft tall.

One of the men was thought to be in his late 30s with black hair and wearing jeans and a black coat.

Officers carrying out enquiries in the area would like anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to report it by calling the appeal line on 01843 222289 quoting 14-0747. Alternatively call Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
