Ramsgate girl's lost toy returned after kindhearted train passenger launched Facebook campaign

A little girl is being reunited with her lost comforter bunny thanks to Facebook and a kindhearted passenger.

Victoria Wells and her family boarded the train at Ramsgate station on Saturday for a day trip to London.

Her three-year-old son Jenson wanted to see the sights of the capital on an open top bus.

But after leaving the train, the mother-of-two realised her one-year-old daughter Ellie’s cuddly toy rabbit was missing.

The 27-year-old said: “When we got off the train I went to put Ellie back in the pram, I got the dummy and my sister-in-law had her.

“It was then we realised we had lost it and we had only just landed in London so I thought this is going to be hell on earth without the comforter.

“It is the one thing she loves to hold on to, she absolutely loves it and always goes to bed with it.”

Melissa Cavell was a passenger sitting opposite the family and realised what had happened.

After picking up the toy she posted a message on Facebook with the picture of the bunny.

It read: “I’m hoping I can reunite a little girl with her lost bunny comforter.

“Yesterday morning my husband and I caught the train from Ramsgate to London and a family got on at Ramsgate too.

“They sat opposite us until they got off one stop before at London Waterloo East.

“It is such a relief that it is coming back...” Victoria Wells

“As we went to get off I realised they had left this behind.”

It was only when a neighbour spotted the post on the social networking website that the family were alerted to Mrs Cavell’s endeavour.

Mrs Wells added: “We thought it was gone forever but on Sunday one of my neighbours knocked on my door and said someone is trying to return your daughter's bunny.

“The woman had heard us talking on the train and picked it up, we have been in touch on Facebook and she said she will post it back to me.

“It is such a relief that it is coming back."
