Rescue operation in Northgate Road, Margate after elderly man falls through floor

Police and fire crews are staging a rescue operation at a property in Margate tonight amid fears an elderly man has fallen through flooring.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Northdown Road, Cliftonville, after the alarm was raised.

The man is feared to have fallen through flooring in the property, which is in a poor state of repair.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is at an address in Northdown Road where there are concerns for the welfare of an elderly man who lives there.

"The house is in a bad state of repair and is currently not safe for emergency services to enter.

"Police are working with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and are hoping to be able to enter the property as soon as possible."
