Cliftonville: Darren Del Boy Crittenden captures snake in Northdown Road

A snake that was pictured slithering across the roof of a home in Cliftonville has been captured.

The Thanet Extra alerted pet shop Animal Kingdom in Northdown Road who then put a plan of action together with Darren 'Del Boy' Crittenden to catch the reptile.

The snake has been confirmed as a corn snake and is now under a heat lamp in Mr Crittenden's home.

He said: "I would say the snake has been up there a few days. It was stone cold and it looks like it may have a respiratory infection.

"But it's on heat now so we'll see how it goes.

"It may of just been thrown out due to infection spreading to other reptiles - I've isolated it at the moment.

"The snake didn't need catching because it couldn't move. It was frozen and they need to warm up to move, it was just laying there. Pretty sad really.

"I had to climb up on the roof as the public couldn't access it and neither could the occupants as it was out back of a shop, so I had to climb to get it."

As soon as the animal becomes well enough to be rehomed Mr Crittenden says he will look for a suitable owner.
