Beach front building at Viking Bay, Broadstairs and land for 61 houses in Ramsgate are to be auctioned

A beach front building, which previously was a shelter, toilet block and lift shaft is going under the hammer at auction.

The unusual lot in Viking Bay, Broadstairs, is now boarded up and is next to the cliff.

Property experts say is might be suitable for a number of uses, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.

It is among 179 lots listed for sale by Clive Emson, the land and property auctioneers, ahead of its next sale.

The freehold guide price is between £40,000 and 50,000.

Auctioneer Kevin Gilbert said: “This is an unusual lot, that lies centrally in the bay.

“There might be many directions for its future but all necessary consents must be obtainable.”

Also under the hammer is a large plot of land in Ramsgate, which has been identified as a plot where 61 homes could be built.

The 5.5 acres (2.2 hectare) site off Manston Road has a freehold guide price of £900,000-1,000,000.

While identified for 61 homes in the local plans, it might be possible for a higher density of housing, subject to necessary consents being obtainable.

Kevin Gilbert said: “It is situated on the western fringes of Ramsgate and the Meridian Close complex nearby has already been developed.

“It is a fine investment opportunity and with a high demand for housing we expect plenty of interest.”
