Westwood Cross: Shoppers queue from 2am for the Boxing Day sales

Shoppers desperate to get their hands on a bargain this Boxing Day started queuing at 2am at one shopping centre.

By 6am, more than 300 keen customers were waiting for the sales to begin at Westwood Cross.

It's one of the busiest days in the retail calendar, and staff from Your Bear delievered food and drink to those waiting for shops including Next, River Island and Boots.

With the Boxing Day sales well and truly underway now, the centre has welcomed thousands of shoppers.

Francesca Donovan, centre manager at Westwood Cross, said: “The local community look forward to the start of our winter sale and we love welcoming so many shoppers each Boxing Day.

"This year we really kicked off the winter sale in style, with thousands of visitors descending on the centre.

“Our range of restaurants and cafés were a welcome retreat for those in need of refreshment, providing a chance to refuel and enjoy spending quality time with the whole family over the festive period.”

The Westwood Cross winter sale runs throughout January, with many retailers taking part and offering discounts of up to 70%.
