A student has told how she has become the victim of a bizarre stalking campaign involving dozens of decapitated and 'blood' covered rubber ducks.

Abbie Coombs, 19, found six rubber ducks hidden around her bedroom in student digs on her second day at Cambridge University.

As she walked around she spotted ducks in her fridge, next to her jewellery box, on a shelf, in her shower and in a drawer.

Each one had a message written on it including 'DUCK ROCK', 'LOVE A DUCK' and 'DONALD'.

A couple of weeks later the law student came back from the library to find more yellow toy ducks.

When Abbie returned to university after Christmas she received a package with a plastic case containing a yellow soap in the shape of a duck.

Normally when Cambridge students receive parcels all they need on the envelope is their name and college address, however Abbie's room number was written too.

During exams term Abbie came back from the library at 1am to find her room pitch black with a creepy circle of candles and ducks on her floor.

In the middle was a star drawn in brown sauce underneath a piece of her chicken breast which had 'DUCK' written on it.

Every couple of weeks Abbie, who has modeled for agencies Base Management and Mission Models, began receiving a new duck, each one slightly creepier than the last.

She found a headless duck under her bed sheets after returning from the library at 12.30pm.

Abbie, who has found 24 ducks so far, said: "Under my sheets was the body of a duck without a head and it was covered in red nail polish to look like it was bleeding. It was really creepy."

The next one was a pink and in Abbie's underwear drawer.

She said: "I was running late one morning and opened my knicker drawer.

"There was a pink duck in there covered in red nail polish and its mouth had been cut open really wide to look like the joker and the stomach was cut open too.

"After this I made a conscious effort to lock my room when I was going out for more than half an hour."

One lunchtime - after going to and from her room to the kitchen to cook a meal - Abbie found all the ducks had been taken from her room.

She then found almost all of them in the bowl of her en-suite toilet. The remaining three were in her bathroom cabinet as well as some flat ducks for sticking onto a wall.

Abbie, of Broadstairs, Kent, added: "They always seemed to know when I was out - they must have known my timetable or been watching me. No one ever tried to get in when I was in the room."

She set up a hidden camera in her room but the mystery prankster didn't visit and instead left an orange duck with her kitchen knife stabbed into its stomach in her kitchen cupboard.

Abbie didn't go to security because she felt they would blame her for leaving her door unlocked.

Another time a duck went missing and she found it cut into pieces and sprinkled into her underwear drawer - despite having changed draws after finding the pink duck previously.

And she found one duck with its head cut off and turned inside out, with 'DUCK DUCK YOU' written on it in black marker.

Abbie said: "Every time I accidentally forgot to lock my door they came in.

"It could be one of my friends but it's just so dark.

"I don't believe that a friend would have kept it up for so long as they knew I was getting creeped out by it."

Abbie, who started her second year at Queens' College, Cambridge last month, is still subject to duck pranks.

She said: "I really hope it doesn't continue this term, I can't be dealing with this again.

"I have no idea why it's ducks but I've now become associated with them.

"My mum got me a duck cuddly top for my birthday and I got birthday cards with ducks on.

"Queens is a river college so we have a lot of ducks swimming by but otherwise I can't think of why the person has bombarded me with ducks."

The college has been approached for a comment.
