Ramsgate car robbery sees two teenagers arrested

Two teenagers have been arrested after a driver was threatened by thieves who drove off in his car.

Shortly before 3am on Sunday police received the report of a car theft in Ramsgate.

The victim was driving an Audi along Newington Road from the direction of Whitehall Road.

As he was turning left into Stirling Way two men in a BMW pulled in front of his car, forcing it to stop.

They threatened him and when he got out of the car they are reported to have taken it.

Officers conducted a search of the area and the police helicopter was also deployed.

The Audi was stopped by police in School Lane at midday on Sunday and an 18-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

He has been released pending further enquiries.

A 19-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested yesterday on suspicion of robbery.

He has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Tuesday, February 20.
