Facebook photo of woman leapfrogging penises led to Carl Gregory's murder in Broadstairs

This tongue-in-cheek photo of a woman jumping over statues of penises sparked a row which led to a Pokemon Go player's brutal murder.

Just hours before he died, Carl Gregory posted the picture on his Facebook page, with the caption "this is how most girlfriends get over their ex's (sic)".

It sparked a row with his former girlfriend Chloe Lemare, which ultimately led to his death.

Today, John Dickson, 27, was sentenced to life in prison for Mr Gregory's murder.

Trouble broke out after Miss Lemare saw the seemingly innocuous Facebook post and told her friend Christopher Pollard, 20, that she had been called "a slag and a tramp" by Mr Gregory.

Pollard then went to The Link retail park near Westwood Cross shopping centre in Broadstairs, with his friend Dickson to confront Mr Gregory.

But the meeting descended into violence, with Dickson strangling Mr Gregory for two minutes. He then stamped on his victim's head and left him for dead.

Mr Gregory, who had Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD, died from asphyxiation at around 10pm on October 4 last year.

The jury at Maidstone Crown Court unanimously cleared Pollard of murder and manslaughter - with him wiping away tears of relief as the verdicts were delivered.

But Dickson was found guilty of murder, and today, jailed for life with a minimum term of 18 years.
