Fire crews tackled a blaze in a field off Hopeville Avenue, Broadstairs, which is thought to have been started deliberately.

People in the area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

Kent Fire and Rescue said it was believed the fire had been started on purpose.

There were no reports of any injuries but people living in the the Dane Valley and Millmead areas were warned to expect smoke to drift in that direction.

They were advised to close windows and doors as a precaution.
