War drawings on wall at Poundland in Ramsgate

Second World War drawings depicting planes have been found scribbled on the walls of the stairwell in Ramsgate High Street's Poundland.

Sharron O'Connor received a huge response when she posted a photograph of them on social media.

She said: "It's on the staircase leading to the rooftop of the Poundland building in Ramsgate.

"Apparently the fire brigade used the building in the war to spot enemy planes to warn the airforce of an attack.

"I know the building was bombed during the war when it was a hotel but that's all I know.

"I just found it extremely interesting and decided to post it on social media where it was liked and shared many times over, proving people are still interested in our local history.

"I visit the building once a week to merchandise products for them and it was a member of staff that showed me that wall with the drawings on it and allowed me to take some photos.

"I’m glad there is so much interest in the drawings."
