Southern Water engineers still trying to fix burst water main in Westwood Road, Broadstairs

A burst main that left water gushing out at Westwood Road, Broadstairs, for more than 24 hours has been located and is being fixed.

Southern Water has had to replace a large section of pipework and a spokesman said that reinstating the road surface would take some time and that it would need to set before the damaged section was reopened.

Repairs were complicated because workmen had to dig around a network of other services, including gas and electricity, at the site near the roundabout at Westwood Retail Park.

A Southern Water spokesman apologised for the disruption caused by the leak.
