Margate: Police appeal for witnesses after woman reportedly attacked and robbed in the High Street

A young woman was violently attacked and robbed by a gang of teenagers in Margate town centre.

The victim, aged in her 20s, was walking with a second woman when they were approached by three youths last night.

The trio is alleged to have shouted abuse at her before punching her in the head and attacking her as she lay on the ground.

The violence erupted between 10.40pm and 10.56pm last night in Margate High Street.

A bright orange bum bag containing bank cards, keys, a driving licence, a mobile phone and other personal items was taken.

The suspects are described as two boys and a girl aged between 16 and 17.

One of the boys was white and wearing dark clothing and the other boy was white, wearing dark clothing and of small build.

The girl was thin, with a brown ponytail and wearing a bright red top and a short denim skirt.

The group fled in the direction of Grosvenor Place.

Officers want to speak to anyone with information and are particularly keen to trace a taxi driver and a male dog walker who were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack.
