Appeal after elderly woman hit by car in Margate Road, Broadstairs

An elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car.

The 75-year-old was knocked down in Margate Road, Broadstairs, leaving her with severe injuries to her head, chest, stomach and hand.

She had been crossing the road with another pedestrian at 10.25pm last night when she was struck by a black Vauxhall Astra.

Emergency services including police, ambulance and air ambulance crews were called.

The woman was taken to King's College Hospital in London by road, but accompanied by air ambulance doctors.

The driver of the Astra stopped after the accident, but no arrests have been made.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
