Theresa May in Broadstairs for Tory dinner after becoming favourite to win Conservative race to become Prime Minister

Conservative Prime Minister candidate Theresa May has been in Kent this evening - just hours after hearing she's the favourite to win.

In the second round of voting today the Home Secretary secured 199 votes; Andrea Leadsom got 84 and Michael Gove came in third and was eliminated with 46 votes.

She visited Broadstairs Pavilion this evening for a Conservative Association dinner.

Mrs May today received the backing of 13 Kent MPs, as she prepares to go head to head with Andrea Leadsom ahead of a party member vote in September.
