Margate striker Zac Attwood has left Hartsdown Park to return to Ryman League Division 1 South side Hastings United.

The 25-year-old re-joined the Thanet club last summer, scoring five times including the Blues' only goal in the 2-1 defeat to rivals Maidstone in March.

He missed out on the promotion run-in and Margate's victorious play-off campaign with an Achilles injury.

Boss Terry Brown paid tribute to Attwood, saying: “Zac played a vital part in us winning promotion last season and I would like to thank him for his efforts.

“We wish Zac the very best at Hastings.”

This will be Attwood's third spell at Pilot Field.

Gate travel to Ramsgate in the annual pre-season friendly between the two clubs on Tuesday night.

Brown expects to start the game with the same XI who finished the 3-1 win at Biggleswade on Saturday.
