Margate manager Terry Brown says he is unlikely to rest players for the Kent Senior Cup tie against Tonbridge Angels

Terry Brown admits Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Weston-super-Mare has forced him to change his plans for the Kent Senior Cup tie against Tonbridge.

Gate boss Brown had hoped to rotate his squad for the first round tie at Hartsdown Park on Tuesday, but now feels he needs to play his strongest squad against Angels, who are second in the Ryman League Premier Division.

Straight into the squad comes 23-year-old striker and former skipper Charlie Allen, who re-signed for the club on a short term deal on Monday.

Brown explained: "I had hoped to rest everybody but now I'm going to have to play all of those players who did not start on Saturday plus those I think I need to prove themselves a bit.

"All I can do as a manager is make sure, that on Tuesday, we get some plusses.

"It's going to be a very difficult game because it's a derby and it will mean a lot to their manager (Steve McKimm). I know him, he's a good friend of mine."

Brown's side have yet to win in six attempts at Hartsdown Park this season and have not scored a goal there since the 1-1 draw with Truro City on the opening day of the Vanarama National League South season.

Because of that Brown says the game has probably taken on more significance than when the draw was originally made.

He added: "I was hoping to give some under-18s a game but I'm not really in a position to do that now. I can't really say to the fans who do turn up on Tuesday 'Okay we're going to put the kids in - the game doesn't matter because it does matter.'

"We've got to score a goal here, for the second time this season. It doesn't really matter what competition it's in."

Margate have reduced admission prices for the game which kicks-off at 7.45pm. Adult entry is £8, with concessions £4 and under-11s free.
