Matt Bodkin and Frannie Collin join Margate

Margate have announced the double signing of Frannie Collin and Matt Bodkin.

Boss Steve Watt has continued his busy summer transfer activity to land both players from his former club Hastings United for undisclosed fees.

Bodkin has joined as player/fitness coach on a one-year deal, while Collin also returns to Kent after scoring 33 goals for the Sussex club last season.

Collin has had spells with Dover, Tonbridge and Maidstone, as well as a loan stay with Herne Bay, while Bodkin returns to Gate for a second time, having also served Welling, Dartford and Dover.

Meanwhile Gate chairman Alistair Bayliss has confirmed that striker Michael Thalassitis is still in the club's plans, despite returning to the ITV2 show Love Island.

Thalassitis, who agreed a new one year deal at the end of last season, is due to return to the club ahead of the new season.

Bayliss said: “As a club we would we never want to stand in the way of a personal opportunity of this magnitude.”

“Mike is a top guy who is well liked around the club and we wish him all the best.

“We are looking forward to having Mike back with us and being part of what we hope to be a very successful season for Margate."

Gate are without a game this weekend, before facing Faversham next Tuesday (7.45pm).
