Margate boss Terry Brown hails Luke Moore's one-man show as search for first home league win ends

Manager Terry Brown promised himself a celebratory beer after watching Margate finally break their home Vanarama National Home South duck beating Havant & Waterlooville 4-1 at Hartsdown Park.

Three goals in eight minutes transformed Gate's afternoon on Saturday as Freddie Ladapo scored twice and set-up the third for Solomon Taiwo, before Luke Moore converted a stoppage-time penalty to complete his excellent contribution.

Brown said: "Luke has been our best player in the last three games.

"He never put a ball wrong in the game and was magnificent.

"His passing, control in and around their box, and his hard work made it almost a one-man show.

"He did the same at Truro, and he more than matched it today, and gave us that little bit of quality in the final third, which we have been lacking."

Brown added: "They looked better than us in the first half-hour, while we looked nervous and uncomfortable.

"We were always going to need a goal and it was important we didn't concede during that spell.

"We played better just before half-time, so I went in feeling a little less miserable.

"We changed a few things at half-time, matching up better in midfield, tracking their runners better, and looking to make better runs ourselves.

"We have played better and lost this season, but the turning point was definitely scoring the first goal."
