Ramsgate FC head coach Lloyd Blackman hoping to add to his squad

Lloyd Blackman hopes to include two new signings in Ramsgate’s squad for the trip to Walton Casuals on Saturday.

The head coach was frustrated by another defensive error which saw Rams beaten 1-0 at East Grinstead last weekend.

They’ve conceded 59 goals in Bostik South this season and for Blackman, enough’s enough.

He said: “I’m hoping to have two signings by Saturday. I’m speaking with two players and we’ll see where that goes.

“Constant mistakes keep occurring and something needs to change. That’s the nature of the beast.

“We’ll look, over the course of the week, to bring a couple of players in and then we’ll assess the squad if we’re able to get the targets in that I want.”

Walton Casuals, who beat Ashford 4-0 on Saturday, are riding high in sixth and have won their last six home games.

“They’re a decent side,” Blackman said. “Anthony Gale’s got them playing some decent stuff but we were disappointed not to beat them at our place a few months ago.

“We went 1-0 up and it was another lead we let slip. They’ve got a nice new facility so it should make for an exciting fixture.”

Jordan Carey is set to keep his place in goal after Sittingbourne cancelled his registration to allow him to deputise for the injured Luke Watkins.

Carey’s debut was the defeat at East Grinstead when a 69th-minute strike from Will Hoare proved decisive.

Blackman said: “It was a game without much quality. Although the game was scrappy and there wasn’t much flow to it, I didn’t feel we were in any serious problems.

“But we weren’t as clinical as we have been and we then made one silly error and it’s cost us.

“The longer the game went on, the more dominant we became but then we gifted them a goal. Teams are having one chance against us and it’s in the net.

“Unfortunately it’s going against us all the time and it was disappointing to walk away from there without any points.”
