Call for creative youngsters to show their talents
THE creative talent of young people in Thanet will be showcased
at an event later this month - and the deadline for entries has
been extended, so there's still time to be part of it.
Youth Got Talent will include an exhibition of visual art by
local young people as well as live music. Local band Morning
Departure have already been confirmed to play at the event.
The event is being planned and run by the Turner Contemporary
Young People's Group - a team of local 13-25-year-olds. Their aim
is to provide a platform for young people in Thanet to show their
creative skills, and they are keen to raise the profile of
teenagers in the area, and showcase their talent.
Anyone aged 11-19 who lives or studies in Thanet is invited to
submit artwork to Youth Got Talent. All of the artwork
submitted will be displayed in the Turner Contemporary Project
Space on 25 July as part of the event. The finished work must fit
onto an A4 sheet of paper and can include various mediums including
drawing, painting, photography and collage. Further information on
how to submit artwork can be found at www.turnercontemporary.org.
The deadline for submissions is July 20.
On the day, visitors to the event will be given the chance to
vote for their favourite artwork, which will be divided into three
age categories. All entries will be exhibited in the Turner
Contemporary Project Space.
Youth Got Talent is part of a youth-led festival of culture for
Kent and Medway, funded by Future Creative.
